New for old bull policy – new initiative to aid clients at Reiland

2025 Yearling Bull Sale - Friday 10th October
Thursday 28th August 2025
Reiland Angus has initiated an innovation to assist clients trade into a new, more “joining ready” sire after one of the toughest winters on record.
Reiland co-principal Mark Lucas said the process revolves around clients who may have one of several bulls that will or may not recondition in time for spring joining.
“A client may elect to nominate prior to the Reiland spring sale and via their agent to engage in the New for Old policy,” Mr Lucas said.
“Payment is deferred on the new bull or bulls until they have reconditioned to a higher carcase weight (or within two months). Once the bull is sold, the account for the new bull is issued and settled.
“With the current heavy bull price hovering around 600c/kg CWT, the return of $3000 and above could be achieved to fund the new bull investment. Obviously younger generation bulls will deliver superior genetics to these herds.”
Mr Lucas said Reiland Angus was sympathetic to loyal client’s hardship over a challenging drought period.
In an industry first, this innovative seedstock business is offering successful buyers at the Reiland Angus spring sale, free bull delivery to northern agistment properties.
“An ongoing positive northern NSW rainfall pattern may allow southern clients to join away in 2025 on agistment properties,” Mr Lucas said.
To be eligible, advise the settling agents, Nutrien Ag Solutions or Elders, at the spring sale on Friday, September 5.
“Reiland Angus builds long term relationships with clients to achieve a team (together everyone achieves more) outcome,” Mr Lucas said.
