2024 Specially Selected Online Bull Offering / 11th October.
Founded by Roland and Eileen Lucas in 1973, the Reiland Angus Stud has a rich history rooted in their experience with commercial Angus cattle.
Their early emphasis on New Zealand genetics, including notable imports, has evolved into a legacy of careful genetic selection, expansion, and the blending of American and New Zealand bloodlines, ensuring the stud’s historical and ongoing significance in Angus cattle breeding.
No expense has been spared in the development of Reiland’s herd via the careful blending of American and New Zealand bloodlines to ensure on-going farm productivity, constitution and genetic diversity.
Typical Reiland cows are fertile, feminine and productive. The early genetic influence was strongly New Zealand-based, with several sires imported in conjunction with Bereena Angus, as well as several high impact NZ cows. These outstanding selections include Kaharau G3885 and Premier 553 of Rakaiatai, imported by plane prior to the recent ban imposed due to Tuberculosis areas.
This sound base combined with current proven USA carcase genetics has developed a functional, high growth herd with favourable carcase traits. Steers sold to both AMH and Cargill (CAAB) provide continual feedback with the last consignment averaging 3.6 for marbling.
The expansion of land area in 1996-1998, and more recently in 2003 has allowed additional selected stud cows to be added from Tasmanian studs Landfall and Connorville along with the purchase of several highly credentialed females from Ythanbrae, St Paul’s and Willowfields
Reiland Genetics have a strong historical influence of (Lawson’s) Scotch Cap and Precision genetics via the ‘Carcase King’ CA Future Direction 5321. This offers clients the luxury of accessing productive genetics with generations of strict herd selection.
Reiland’s 1000 registered and 500 commercial cows are run under commercial conditions at a high stocking rate with sheep, which certainly identifies elite performers.
