Reiland stud, Killimicat Station, Tumut, will offer a consignment of spring drop 2016 joined heifers at the sale, to be held at the Gundagai saleyards from 11am.
One pen of heifers has been artificially inseminated to breed-leading sires including GAR Surefire, Kidman Impact K99 and EF Complement.
They were depastured afterwards with elite Reiland bulls chosen for short gestation length and low birthweight.
Reiland Angus co-principal Mark Lucas said the calving of heifers had progressed immeasurably over the past decade.
“Sires selected for heifer joining at Reiland Angus have focused on the easy calving, moderate sized bulls with exceptional carcase traits,’’ Mr Lucas said.
“Heifers offered at the sale will be by sire lines of GAR Prophet and Matauri Reality excelling in short gestation, low birth and positive calving ease.
“With correct heifer condition management, the intervention rate in the Reiland herd is low.
“The resultant calves will easily achieve future feedlot specification or herd replacements in the heifer portion.’’
Selling agents Elders Tumut and Landmark Wagga will yard 800 cows with spring 2017 drop calves, cows joined for a March to July calving, spring calving cows, autumn calving heifers, spring drop heifers joined to calve August-September, and autumn drop heifer weaners.
A highlight of the sale will be the part dispersal of 100 seven-year-old spring calving Reiland blood cows by Glenn Lucas, Taranee Pastoral Company, Tarcutta.
