Quality commercial females on offer at Reiland blood sale

Reiland Angus co-principal Mark Lucas at the inaugural female sale where joined cows with calves made to $2800 in 2018.

One of the first high quality breeders’ sales in NSW is set to be held at the Gundagai saleyards on Friday, March 12.

The multivendor Reiland Genetics Feature Female sale will feature pregnancy-tested-in-calf Angus females for a spring calving along with PTIC cows and autumn and spring drop heifer weaners.

The spring calving heifers will be joined to Reiland and industry sires. Included in the offering from Reiland Angus, Tumut and Gundagai, will be 70 PTIC spring calving heifers, 12 PTIC autumn calving cows, 50 autumn drop heifer weaners, and 10 cows and spring drop calves.

Reiland Angus co-principal Mark Lucas said sufficient interest and cattle numbers had confirmed for the autumn feature sale.

Mr Lucas said the Reiland blood females emanated from committed, long term Reiland clients or bull clients who have purchased Reiland bulls to join to quality breeding females.

He said all cattle would be inspected by agents for type, temperament and overall quality.

The sale will be interfaced with AuctionsPlus and will follow on from the highly successful inaugural Reiland female sale at Gundagai in February, 2018 when cows and calves sold to $2800.

“It is with pride Reiland Angus, with the support of loyal clients, has initiated a genuine Angus breeder sale outlet for quality surplus females, selected for soundness and docility,” Mr Lucas said.

“Undoubtedly, the current profitability is forecast to remain, favouring the breeder cycle.

“The heightened interest back into breeder cattle is heartening given the past drought challenge.

“The fact the sale will be one of the first true quality female offerings producers can attend and physically bid since COVID-19 restrictions is a significant plus for a positive outcome.”
